DEAR News Of The Area,
DURING the debacle of Pauline Hanson’s speech at the Press Club (17/6/2026), one is left to ask: “What can we do to counter the possibility of this woman becoming Prime Minister?”
While this possibility may be an anathema to many of us, we must learn from Trump’s victory in the USA.
Shock, Horror! How did it happen?
There are a lot of angry, disenchanted people, just like we have here.
One can’t deny that Ms Hanson presented as a confident and well informed player. She quoted plenty of statistics, but who was fact-checking?
How can the general public come to the realisation that she is not the solution to Australia’s problems?
The strongest response one hears is “The Labor Party must do something”.
What else can Labor do? They are delivering change, one has only to watch “Question Time” to hear the list of achievements.
They listen to people and are prepared to make modifications to policy, such as they have with the capital gains tax.
Labor supporters must be proactive by celebrating the achievements, aspirations and unity of the party to inform naysayers and recommend close examination of the nonsense sprouted by Ms Hanson.
Regards,
Betty Starr.
