PORT City Bowling Club has been selected to host a round of Bowls for Brisbane: The Long Roll, a unique event designed to highlight Australia’s case for bowls’ inclusion in the 2032 Brisbane Olympics and Paralympic Games.
It is being billed as the “world’s farthest game of lawn bowls”.
Each club will host a round of “Australia Vs The Rest of The World” action, playing one-bowl Triples over two-sets of seven ends (with a tie-breaker if needed).
Each of the 32 rounds will contribute to a total challenge score that will be revealed at the end of the journey.
A win at each club is worth one point.
Rolling out from Balmain Bowls Club in Sydney on 29 April, The Long Roll is being hosted by 32 historic clubs throughout NSW and Queensland for two weeks of bowls, finishing 1000km later at Windsor Bowls Club in Brisbane on 14 May.
The multi-state route symbolically links Australia’s Olympic history, from Sydney 2000 to Brisbane 2032.
The initiative is being endorsed by the Bowls for Brisbane 2032 campaign, World Bowls, Bowls Australia, Bowls NSW and Bowls Queensland.
The Long Roll arrives at Port City Bowling Club on Monday 4 May, running from approximately 10:30am to 1pm.
