Liz Faassen bids farewell to the Hastings’ 2WAY FM

BETWEEN 2pm and 4pm on 29 April, Hastings Community Radio presenter Liz Faassen will broadcast her final program of “The Sounds of the Swinging 60’s and 70’s”.

Liz became a 2WAY FM presenter in 2014 after completing the required training.

She had listened to 2WAY FM for many years prior to this, and was a big fan of “The Dutch Allsorts” program hosted by Lonnie and Ria.

Liz has Dutch heritage and, by chance, her mother knew the program’s hosts.

In her two-hour time slot, Liz played a lot of music from the 60s and 70s, which saw her program evolve into its current form.

Liz also took on the Sunday morning breakfast program, which was a big hit with its cruisy laid-back style and easy listening music.

She leaves behind a big legacy at 2WAY FM.

She assisted with programming and was President for two years, Treasurer for two years and a committee member for seven years.

As an ambassador for 2WAY FM, she has contributed to the station’s success through hard work and her “yes, we can do that” attitude.

Liz has seen many changes over the years, including the studio moving from playing vinyl records to CD’s, digital recordings and the use of USBs, and now the station live streaming via 2wayfm.com.au.

“I have really enjoyed my time at 2WAY FM,” she told News Of The Area.

“I have made great friends, and it’s been like a big family – along with meeting so many people who have tuned into my programs.”

Liz hopes that all her loyal listeners, and maybe some new ones, will tune in to her remaining programs.
