A FLASH mob of around 100 singers will converge on a Port Macquarie carpark on Friday 5 June to help kick off this year’s ArtWalk.
Singers from 10 community choirs, including one high school choir, will materialise in the Clarence House car park off Murray Street, at 5pm.
From then until 9pm, the town’s CBD will come alive for an immersive experience of projections, installations, local artists, artisan markets and family friendly activities.
Thousands are expected to attend the 10th-anniversary event, which will involve more than 300 artists and performers, interactive activations, food vendors, community collaborations, and satellite locations across the town centre.
Mayor Adam Roberts said the 10-year milestone was an opportunity to reflect on how ArtWalk had become a premier event that showcased the region’s creative identity.
“ArtWalk has evolved into one of the signature events on our cultural calendar and a celebration of the incredible creativity that exists throughout our community,” Cr Roberts said.
“ArtWalk has brought people together through art, music, storytelling, and shared experiences, while also supporting local artists, businesses, and our night-time economy.
“This year’s program is shaping up to be one of the biggest and most exciting yet, and I encourage the community to come into the CBD, explore the activations and celebrate this milestone with us.”
Council encourages attendees to plan ahead and consider public transport options where possible, with free shuttle bus services operating on the night to help people travel to and from the event safely and conveniently.
Cr Roberts said the strength of ArtWalk is in strong community support and creative participation.
“This event is a celebration of local talent, creativity and collaboration, and it simply would not be possible without the artists, performers, volunteers, businesses, sponsors and community members who continue to support it year after year,” he said.
“We’re proud to celebrate 10 years of ArtWalk and look forward to welcoming thousands of residents and visitors into Port Macquarie for another unforgettable night.”
