Detectives issue public appeal over suspicious death of Port Macquarie woman Megan Tangye

DETECTIVES are appealing to the public to help them piece together what happened to 31-year-old Megan Tangye.

Megan died from multiple injuries after being found in a Port Macquarie unit two days after Christmas.

Emergency services had been called to the property in Gore Street about 11.40am on Saturday 27 December.

Megan was taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital where she died a short time later.

A crime scene was established at the unit as Mid North Coast detectives established Strike Force Hazen, with assistance from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.

Police District Crime Manager Inspector Mark Rogers said a post-mortem examination has since confirmed her death is suspicious.

“An extensive canvass has been conducted, including CCTV collection, tracking Megan’s movements prior to the incident,” he said.

“However, we would ask that anyone with other information or relevant footage comes forward to the police.

“This is understandably a very difficult time for Megan’s family.

“They need answers as to what happened to her, and it’s our priority to find those answers.

“We do have several leads we are continuing to follow.

“At this stage we are keeping an open mind and won’t be able to comment on any particular individuals.

“We urge anyone with information about her death to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 and help bring answers to Megan’s family.”
