COFFS City came out on top in a strongly-contested Interclub Challenge played against Iona FC on Saturday, 28 March.
The two Mid North Coast clubs played pre-season games across the following divisions: U12 Boys, U14 Boys, U16 Boys, U16 Girls, and Ladies and Men’s premier and reserve grades.
Coffs won five games to two to take home the trophy.
“All games were played in a great spirit and high standard of football with the close results for most games showing the evenness between the two clubs,” said Iona Sports Club Football President Paul Stephens.
“In the main men’s game the standard was particularly high and a great introduction for the level of football our newly promoted team must reach each week.
“Iona had several excellent chances forcing some great saves from Coffs City in a very even game which Coffs City eventually won 1-0.
“Next year Iona will travel to Coffs Harbour and we look forward to trying to bring the trophy back home.”
