‘Voices on the Mezzanine’ showcases high school talent at the Glasshouse

ST AGNES’ Parish Secondary Schools (SAPSS) held a free lunchtime concert on the mezzanine at The Glasshouse on Monday 25 May.

There was something for everyone as students from both MacKillop and St Joseph’s Regional Colleges performed solo and choral pieces.

Rob Denham, SAPSS music ensembles manager, welcomed the audience of parents and community members, thanking them for “warmly supporting students in a public space which gives them valuable experience as performers”.

The vocal concert began with The Collective, accompanied by Mr Denham.

The Pop Choir, conducted by Samantha Adams, followed with familiar contemporary pieces including “Fly Away” by Tones and I.

HSC student Anneque Moad shared her haunting version of “Spider’s Web” with confidence and poise.

Year 11 student Lani Warren performed a vocal and guitar medley of Neil Young and Jeff Buckley songs.

Scarlet Brooke, also in Year 11, sang Chappell Roan’s “The Subway.”

Year 10 students Peyton Berry and Lucy Graham sang rousing songs by Tracey Chapman and Norah Jones.

The concert concluded with the SAPSS vocal ensemble and their polished performance of “Defying Gravity” from the musical “Wicked”.

The next gig in June will feature bands from SAPSS.
