THE Rotary Club of Port Macquarie has a strong history of ‘service above self’ dating back to its inception in 1948.
Its impact is felt through countless projects such as the Rotary Lodge at Port Macquarie Base Hospital, which provides accommodation for those needing to stay close to loved ones.
A significant portion of their fundraising comes from an annual book sale, with the next one occurring in Panthers Auditorium from Friday to Sunday.
Book sale convenor Bob Cleland told News Of The Area, “We have more than 25,000 books on sale, with the fiction sorted alphabetically by author, and the non-fiction sorted into 30 different categories including a large range of biographies, self-help, gardening, nature, travel and many other categories.”
The books are carefully sorted to ensure they are in good condition with adult and reference books at $3 each, children’s books 50 cents each, young adults books $2 each, and a curated collection of antiquarian books at $10 each.
Many DVDs will also be available for $1 each.
The sale will be open on Friday 10 April from 9.30am-6pm, Saturday 11 April from 9.30am-6pm and Sunday 12 April from 9.30am-3pm.
Admission is by a gold coin donation which will go to YP Space MNC, a specialist homelessness service that provides support and accommodation to children and young people aged twelve to 25 across the region.
