Wauchope RSL support helps Riding for the Disabled purchase safer horse float

A NEW horse float purchased with support from the Wauchope RSL Club Grants program has strengthened the ability of the local Riding for the Disabled service to continue helping members of the community.

Representatives from Wauchope RSL recently visited the organisation to inspect the horse float funded through a 2025 Clubs grant.

The visit included a welcome from Riding for the Disabled president Kerri Argent and volunteer Sorrell Masters, who thanked the club for its ongoing support of the service.

The new float replaced an older vehicle and provided several upgraded safety features designed to make transporting horses easier and safer for volunteers.

“Between the Clubs grant, sale of the previous float and the kind donation of one of our members, we were able to purchase a superior float with many safety features allowing our older volunteers to operate the float,” Ms Argent said.

The organisation provides horse-centred experiences that support people living with disabilities and others who may benefit from spending time with horses in a safe and welcoming environment.

Ms Argent said Wauchope RSL had remained one of the group’s major sponsors for many years.

“Wauchope RSL are one of our major sponsors and we are very appreciative of their ongoing support,” she said.

She also reminded local residents that the service was available to a broad range of people in the community.

“This valuable service is available not only to people with diagnosed disability but also to anyone who might benefit from horse-centred experiences every Tuesday at Wauchope Showground,” Ms Argent said.

The new horse float is expected to support the program for many years to come, helping volunteers continue delivering valuable experiences to local participants.
