THE local show is a highlight of the year for many – especially for those who regularly enter its competitions.

The Camden Haven Show will be held at the Kendall Showground on 24 and 25 October.

Show organisers are calling for entries in the handicraft, cooking, cake decorating, fruit and vegetables, photography, and art sections

Elizabeth Watson is the show’s needlework steward.

“We are looking for entries for all needlework classes – especially Class 43,” Ms Watson said.

“Our Class 43 entry from last year’s show was selected to be entered into the Group 2 final for Mid North Coast shows.

“We were thrilled to be selected to represent our area and our entries progressed to this year’s Sydney Royal Show.”

To enter, three different types of wool articles or garments must include a minimum 80 per cent sheep’s wool.

The item can be made by one entrant or three different exhibitors, but must include something to wear (such as a jumper or cardigan), something for your home (such as a rug or table centre), and an accessory (such as a hat or scarf).

The items for the 2026 Sydney Royal Show included a beautifully crocheted blanket made by North Haven’s Roz Fraser, a jumper knitted by Joy Pengilly of Lake Cathie, and a crocheted scarf designed and made by Debra Parker of Kendall.

“While we didn’t place at the Sydney Royal Show, our items were displayed with the winning entries from around the state,” Ms Watson said.

Entrants should ensure that they’ve attached the yarn label and a sample of the yarn.

There are many categories, whether you’re a beginner or an old hand at handicraft.

Pavilion schedules are now available in print or at camdenhavenshow.org.au
