Port Macquarie’s Phillips Lane comes alive with art

PROFESSIONAL street artists are breathing new life into Phillips Lane, Port Macquarie.

In a street art project initiated by Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, local and visiting artists are collaborating to transform the laneway off Hay Street in the CBD.

Contributing to the project is local street artist Damon Moroney, otherwise known as ‘Iknograffix’; Brad Collins, a multi-disciplinary artist and illustrator living in Port Macquarie; Patrick Hunter (InkHunter), an environmental mural artist from Sydney; and Patrick Edward Indo, otherwise known as INDO the Artist, a street artist and designer based in Crescent Head.

Damon (Iknograffix) has created the koala and lighthouse images, Patrick (InkHunter) the whale and Brad the pelican.

Local young people will be called upon to complete the mural work.

“There will be a student-based workshop taking place to fill the spot at the end of the laneway,” said Damon.

Readers may have seen Damon’s work around Port Macquarie at Shelly Beach shops, the Players Theatre, the front wall of Flynns Beach Resort, the Telstra Exchange building and many other local schools and businesses.

Damon will also paint as part of a live street art demonstration during ArtWalk 2025 in the youth precinct in Phillips Lane.

Working professionally as Iknograffix for 10 years, Damon has been a street artist for much longer.

His work spreads across the Hastings and Macleay regions and can be seen in laneway precincts in both Kempsey and Wauchope.
