YEAR 7 Food and Agriculture students at St Joseph’s Regional College have been enjoying the fruits (or rather, vegetables) of their labour.
They’ve been busily preparing their garden plot for next season’s crop, just weeks after their record breaking wins at the Comboyne Show.
The largest pumpkin ever grown at the college was named Grand Champion and Supreme Exhibit, which meant it was up for consideration for the Royal Easter Show in Sydney.
“While our pumpkin was nominated to represent our region in the produce display at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, unfortunately, it was not needed this year,” the college shared on social media.
“But we are proud to be nominated to attend.”
The college said the giant pumpkin grew out of just a 30sqm patch.
Students were supported by staff members David Constantine, Jeremy Bate and Mark Robertson in their endeavours.
