Double, double toil and … lots of Halloween family fun at Sovereign Hills this Friday

LITTLE witches, ghoulish ghosts, goblins and the odd vampire will be out in force this Friday for a Family Halloween Disco and Dress-Up Competition at Thrumster.

Families are invited to enjoy the ‘spooktacular’ evening of family friendly entertainment at Sovereign Place Town Centre from 4pm to 7pm.

It will include a children’s disco, live street theatre, spooky face painting, Halloween activities, and free Halloween-themed fairy floss.

Players Theatre actors will join performers from Port Macquarie Performing Arts to dress in scary outfits to capture the Halloween spirit, while Port Base Hospital Pink Ladies will be transformed into Fairy Godmothers to judge the costumes.

The event is the wickedly wonderful work of Tim Walker, Community Development Manager at Ritchies IGA Fine Food Merchants Sovereign Place, which is hosting what he hopes will become an annual event.

“I love the idea of children being able to dress up and have fun in a safe atmosphere,” he said.

“It could be a dress rehearsal for Halloween the next day, or just a chance to come out and enjoy the community spirit.

“The disco will be a fun way for kids to laugh and play, while mum and dad look on or get involved!”

The costume competition is open to participants aged one to 25, encouraging everyone to get creative with their Halloween costumes.

Other attractions include performances by Ghostly LIVE Street Theatre, activities presented by The Witchy Nook, such as spell jars and plaster cast painting, followed by a special spooky surprise at 6.45pm.

Supported by The Witchy Nook, The Players Theatre Inc. and Port Macquarie Performing Arts, the event will showcase local talent and community partnerships, while offering families a fun way to celebrate Halloween.
