SYDNEY Musical and Opera Society is bringing its concert production, ‘An Evening with Rodgers & Hammerstein’, to The Glasshouse Port Macquarie for one performance only on Sunday, 13 September at 2pm.
The performance will feature a live orchestra of more than 20 musicians, a cast of 16, a choir, and immersive projections.
Sydney Musical and Opera Society president and performer Simon Militano said the company was thrilled to bring the concert to Port Macquarie audiences.
“Rodgers and Hammerstein created some of the most beloved music ever written for the stage.
“This concert celebrates that extraordinary legacy with a large live orchestra, wonderful singers, dancers, choir and projections.
“Productions featuring more than 20 musicians performing live on stage are increasingly rare, and we are delighted to bring this full-scale concert experience to Glasshouse Port Macquarie for a special afternoon performance.”
Celebrating the much-loved music of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, the concert features familiar songs from The Sound of Music, Carousel, Oklahoma!, South Pacific, and The King and I.
Audiences can look forward to hearing favourites such as Some Enchanted Evening, Climb Ev’ry Mountain, My Favorite Things, Oh What a Beautiful Mornin’, and You’ll Never Walk Alone.
Following a highly successful season at Glen Street Theatre and performances aboard Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth, the production promises an afternoon of glorious theatrical tunes.
