PORT Macquarie Pink Ladies have welcomed Karen Fraser as their new President following the volunteer group’s Annual General Meeting in August.
Ms Fraser takes over from outgoing President Gabby Gregory, who retired from the role after 12 years of leadership and service to the Pink Ladies and Port Macquarie Base Hospital.
During the past financial year, the Pink Ladies donated more than $6,800 worth of equipment to the hospital, continuing the group’s longstanding support for patients and staff.
Port Macquarie Base Hospital Acting Director of Nursing Lisa Bemman thanked the volunteers for their contribution to the hospital.
“We simply can’t thank you enough for everything you do,” Ms Bemman said.
“Whether it is donating equipment, giving your time so generously as volunteers, or sharing a smile and a kind word with our patients and staff, your support is invaluable.”
Ms Bemman also recognised Ms Gregory’s lengthy contribution as President.
“Thank you, Gabby, for your contribution to the Port Macquarie Pink Ladies,” she said.
“Twelve years as President is an amazing feat.
“You will be greatly missed.”
At the meeting, Ms Gregory acknowledged the ongoing support of local businesses and the volunteers who help keep the Pink Ladies operating each day.
Roster clerks Lesley Watts, Sandra McNalley, Sonia Currie, Wendy Tawyer, Robyn Grieve, Coral Reichelt and Kerry Fox were also thanked for their commitment to the service.
Ms Fraser will be supported by Sonia Currie as Secretary, Judith Davidson as Assistant Secretary and Chris Tait as Treasurer.
Rhonda Hawley will serve as Assistant Treasurer, Karen Swain as Vice-President and Lesley Watts as second Vice-President.
The Pink Ladies provide an important volunteer presence at Port Macquarie Base Hospital while raising funds to purchase equipment for the facility.
