Police conduct targeted shoplifting operation in Port Macquarie

POLICE conducted a targeted shoplifting operation on Tuesday 10 March across shopping hubs in Port Macquarie.

During the operation, officers detected eight alleged stealing offences.

Legal action was taken against all eight people, with two of those also charged with alleged drug possession offences.

Acting Superintendent Matthew Hinton said the operation was part of an ongoing focus on reducing retail crime in the region.

“Shoplifting has a real impact on local businesses, staff and the wider community.

“These operations are designed to send a clear message that offending behaviour will not be tolerated,” A/Supt Hinton said.

“We will continue to run targeted, intelligence driven operations to deter theft and provide reassurance to businesses and shoppers.”

Police urge anyone who witnesses suspicious or criminal activity to contact local police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
