THE Hastings Auto Restorers Society Inc has continued its long-running fundraising commitment, donating $7,000 to support the Mid North Coast Cancer Institute at Port Macquarie.
The donation was raised through two major initiatives organised by the Society.
Fundraising activities included raffling of a wheelbarrow hamper filled with non-perishable food items and the club’s annual Swap Meet.
Both activities reflect the Society’s focus on combining its automotive interests with meaningful community fundraising.
Hastings Auto Restorers Society Inc Publicity Officer Chris Whalley also acknowledged the contribution of the Port Macquarie SES, which returned its $500 traffic management fee from the event to support the MNCCI donation.
“For 14 years we have proudly donated to the Port Macquarie MNCCI, keeping funds local to help those facing the challenges of cancer, raising $87,000 since we started,” Mr Whalley said.
“Many of our members have been personally affected by prostate and other cancers, so we understand the importance of supporting patients close to home.”
Now in its 25th year, the Swap Meet has become the Society’s primary fundraising event and a popular fixture on the local calendar.
The event attracts around 1,500 visitors and features 137 sites offering cars, parts and motoring memorabilia.
Held every third Sunday in September, the Swap Meet brings together enthusiasts from across the region while generating vital funds for local health services.
