North Haven Hornets pair bound for state finals

NORTH Haven Hornets bowlers Andrew “Huddo” Hudson and Tim “Boss” Harris have won the Region Rookie Pairs, earning a place at the state finals in Raymond Terrace this December.

The result is an exciting milestone for the pair, who have each been playing bowls for just over 12 months.

Their win means they will now represent both their club and the region against other qualifying pairs from across the state.

Mr Harris said their ability to support each other during games played an important part in the result.

“We really gelled as a team,” he said. “When one of us played a poor shot, the other played well to keep us in the game.

“We’re both ecstatic to be representing the region and North Haven Hornets at the next level at Raymond Terrace in December, especially as we’ve both only been playing for just over 12 months.”

For Mr Hudson and Mr Harris, the state finals will be another chance to build on what has already been a memorable first year in the sport.

Their regional win is also a proud moment for the Hornets, with two relatively new players progressing to the next level of competition.

The club congratulated the pair on the achievement and wished them well for December.

It was a strong weekend for the Hornets beyond the state finals-bound pair.

The club praised its other rookie players who competed, recognising the pride and sportsmanship they showed while gaining valuable experience.

While only Mr Hudson and Mr Harris secured a place at the state finals, every rookie who took part had the opportunity to test their skills in competition.

With new players stepping up and supporting one another, the Hornets have plenty to look forward to.
