WAUCHOPE’S Rocks Ferry Reserve will receive a Spring clean-up courtesy of Hastings Landcare members and community volunteers on 18 October.
Litter will be collected from the area between the Rocks Ferry picnic area and the fig trees behind Wauchope High School in River Street.
The two-hour clean-up will begin at 9am.
The local Landcare group’s clean-ups usually attract 20-25 community-minded volunteers, with everyone welcome to take part.
“It’s a very satisfying way to walk in the sunshine for a couple of hours,” said Hastings Landcare Volunteer Support, Robyn Camozzato.
“You can follow the path, but some Landcare members pull on gumboots to collect rubbish washed up along the riverbank.”
Volunteers will be supplied with gloves and a bag at the registration table in the picnic area. Volunteers must sign in so they’re covered by Landcare’s insurance.
“When the clean-up’s over, your bag of rubbish earns you morning tea in the park and a chance to meet and chat with other like-minded locals.” Ms Camozzato added.
The only requirements are to bring sturdy walking shoes and a hat.
