HAVE you got a painting tucked away in the garage, a print gathering dust in a cupboard, or an artwork that no longer has a place on your walls?
The Port Macquarie Tacking Point Lions Club (TPLC) invites the community to take part in its upcoming Second Chance Art Sale on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 September.
The fundraising event will give unwanted artworks the opportunity to find a new home while supporting a local cause.
For several months, TPLC members have been collecting donations of artworks from homes and offices.
“Whether it’s an original painting, a framed print, a sketch, or another piece of art that is no longer taking pride of place, the club hopes to match it and sell it to a new owner who will appreciate and enjoy it,” said Lions Club member Janice McGilchrist.
“The purpose of the sale is to raise funds for Make A Difference (M.A.D.), a local organisation that works tirelessly to support vulnerable people in our community who are experiencing hardship.”
Every artwork purchased will help M.A.D. provide services and assistance to those who need them most.
“Our partnership with the Lions Club has been developing and this year they have been supporting us by running the canteen on the weekend at Tuffins Lane,” said Kat Burgess, volunteer coordinator from Make a Difference.
“With their support we are able to keep our van on the road and feed those who are hungry.
“These community relationships are important and give us hope.”
The Second Chance Art Sale will be held at the CWA Rooms on Town Green. The Country Women’s Association has donated use of its venue for the event.
Visitors will be able to browse a diverse collection of artworks while enjoying the warm hospitality of CWA members, who will be serving their famous Devonshire Teas on both days.

The sale will run from 9.00am to 4.00pm on Friday 18 September and 9.00am to 1.00pm on Saturday 19 September.
