Dance challenge to help sick kids

RONALD McDonald House has been an institution in Australia since 1981, with the organisation annually assisting more than 89,000 families of seriously ill children.

Jesica Vlahovic spent time in one as a child and has retained an affection for the charity that she has passed onto her children, especially 13-year-old daughter Adrijana Riethmuller.

An accomplished and dedicated dancer, Adrijana recently undertook a challenge to dance continuously for 30 minutes every day for a week.

Jesica told News Of The Area, “As a mum I am incredibly proud.

“This kind of thing is outside Adrijana’s comfort zone, so she was quite nervous.

“But I love seeing her advocate for things like this, which are so important.”

Adrijana is in her third year of dance across multiple styles and dreams of dancing professionally – or becoming a pilot.

She was recently selected to represent her school, St Joseph’s Regional College in Port Macquarie, in dancing.

Individual sponsorships, and donations from Camden Haven businesses, enabled Adrijana to raise $1200.

The funds will go towards reducing financial stress on families by providing a home away from home during their child’s treatment.
